Hawke Alex Hawke Book 1 Ted Bell Books

I really did enjoy this book. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is of no fault to the author. It is more that the writing style and story-telling is a bit different to other authors I read usually (this is only my opinion) such as Child, Crais, Peterson & Baldacci. I found myself putting the book down at times and not feeling compelled to pick it back up in a hurry as it dragged a little at times where I thought it didn't need to (such as the level of development put into the MP character when I felt it didn't need to go that extent). Again, this is only an individualistic view of the story where others will view it as thorough background story development.
Overall though, the characters as a whole were portrayed very well and the plot definitely developed at a crisp rate in the latter half of the book.

Hawke Alex Hawke Book 1 Ted Bell Books Reviews

I STARTED OUT MY TED BELL READING WITH BOOK THREE. i WAS SO INTRIQUED THAT I ORDERED AND READ THE FIRST BOOK. "HAWKE" IS A WELL WTITTEN NOVEL WITH PLAUSIBLE STORY LINES AND GOOD CHARACTERS. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES WHEN THE BLACK CHARACTER'S MONOLOG WAS NOT PERFECTLY TUNED TO MY EAR, BUT THEN I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FOR A BRIT TRYING TO WRITE BRONX EBONICS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TED BELL'S HAWKE BOOK #1 AND #3. NOW I AM GOING TO ORDER BOOK #2 WHICH I ASSUME WILL BE EQUALLY ENTERAINING.
Lots of action, large cast of characters. Well written. Five stars for that. Everything a little larger than life (even the parrot), a little stereotypic, a little predictable, a bit like a Romance, so one star deduction.
Thrill a minute! Enjoyed immensely! On to the next book in the set!! Alex Hawke is a very interesting character, can’t wait to see how his life evolves
This is the first book I've read from author Ted Bell. I heard Rush Limbaugh talking up his books one day on the radio and decided to give one a try. If you read for entertainment, then this fiction novel will keep you turning the pages. However, it us a bit unrealistic compared to series books from other authors I've read (namely John Sandford's Prey series of books, or numerous books by Nelson DeMille, and David Baldacci.). Bottom line is it will keep your interest as long as you don't question reality.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and love the character Alex. Looking forward to his next adventure and where it will be
This was the first Ted Bell novel, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the Alex Hawke character and all of his associates. Plot was good and moved along quickly. Bell doesn't take himself too seriously with the writing, and that is not a critique - it's a fun read with many lighthearted barbs along the way that reminded me of Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar novels. Will be fun to follow Alex Hawke and see what he is up to in the other novels.
Great suspense, and very well written and descriptive. But why does every character use a cuss word in every sentence they quote?
